** Training
** The only way to get better
A while ago I was invited to arrange a workshop about React. The scheduling changed a bit and as a result I’ve spent the last few days churning out slides! I feel spending the time on preparation was worth it, though. Just check out the resulting presentation (https://survivejs.github.io/training) ! I hope you find it useful.
The presentation has been structured into ten smaller sections. Each has a few associated exercises at the end of each section to make sure you got the core points. Apart from the first section (Babel and Webpack), the presentation digs into React.
You’ll learn about technologies like Redux (http://redux.js.org/) or MobX (https://mobxjs.github.io/mobx/) there. Even if you know React well, I believe you’ll still find a new thing or two there as the space evolves fast. Especially MobX looks interesting!
** Book Progress
The preparation work blocked the book work a bit. On the plus side I have nice, new graphics to include to the future editions. The research performed for the slides will come in handy and contribute to the book effort. This process forced me to condense ideas into easier to explain form and that’s never a bad thing.
After I ace the workshop day, I’ll resume book work as usual. The plan is to get an intermediate version of the Webpack book (http://survivejs.com/webpack/introduction) out as I need to port a certain chapter there and do smaller tweaks based on the feedback received. The split of the original book will be done after that.
I have a lot of pieces done already. Now it’s a matter of bringing it all together, making the site work with the improved structure, and so on. There are clear goals to attain so that’s good.
** Conclusion
Speaking of training, it might be cool to try to cover at least a part of the material online (Twitch?). I wouldn’t mind traveling a bit either. But I’ll just leave this idea here. I’m totally happy with the current situation as things are moving forward in quite a nice way. Keep on reacting.

PS. I interviewed Guillaume Plique about his tool known as kotatsu. Read on to learn how it can reduce the amount of boilerplate in your projects (http://survivejs.com/blog/kotatsu-interview/) .
