JavaScript Everywhere Book Update
This week I handed the final draft of JavaScript Everywhere over to the fine folks at O’Reilly. Admittedly, it’s a bit of a terrifying feeling to say it’s “done,” but I spent some time this week closely reviewing all of the code examples and can confidently say that I’m really proud of where the book has ended up. In the coming months O’Reilly will work their production magic, copy editing, fine tuning screenshots, and printing physical copies (which I assume works exactly as Mr. Rogers described). Physical and final digital copies should be released in early April.
For now, if you’re interested, feel free to check out the GitHub code sample repos. Each of these contains the final book code as well as a chapter by chapter breakdown. They’ve all been recently updated after several rounds of code reviews by myself and others:
- API: A Node.js API, built with Express, Apollo Server, and MongoDB
- Web: A Web application built with React Native, Apollo Client, and Styled Components
- Mobile: A native mobile application built with React Native, Expo, Apollo Client, and Styled Components
- Desktop: An Electron app shell
You can also sign up for our Spectrum Community, which is quiet for now, but will provide a forum to ask me questions or interact with other readers once the book is out. Early versions of the first 8 chapters are also available through O’Reilly’s online learning platform.
Thanks for reading!
Take care, Adam
