Inspired By #93
Hello! Welcome to issue #93 of Inspired By, a monthly(-ish) newsletter from your friendly neighbourhood designer JPKoudstaal. 😘
Here are some of the things I came across the last few weeks that inspired me:
🎸 Ohio Players — Black Keys
Been listing to this everyday, what a great album! My favourite songs: This Is Nowhere, Every Time You Leave and I Forgot To be Your Lover, which I just found out is a cover from a William Bell song from 1968 that Billy Idol covered in 1986 and Bruce Springsteen in 2022. 😅
Here’s a nice live set with their previous hits and a few from the new album. 🤘🏻

Sort of like Letterboxd but for music. The UI looks really nice too, feels very solid and fast. 😊
They are still in closed beta, but if you sign up, you’ll get access in a few days. (via Bram)

😌 Ease by Studio Feixen Fonts
Quite an extensive variable font family, with a long showcase one-pager with amazing looping videos, that I have no idea of how they are made.

❌-men ’97 on Disney+
What an amazing throwback! I’ve watched the original X-Men: The Animated Series back in the nineties, and Disney/Marvel decided to bring it back, continuing from where it ended in 1997. With the same voice actors and a modernized version of the animation style, so cool!
🥰 Perplexity Case Study
Smith & Diction created a beautiful logo and brand for Perplexity and their case study is lovely as well. Especially the way they don’t take themselves too serious:
“We made some very pretty posters that don’t really have a practical use case but they sure are nice to look at! And here’s a booklet that is also not real, but extremely easy on the eyes.”

🤩 National Parks Posters
Inspired by the iconic artwork of the early 1900s, this National Park poster series is meant to conjure nostalgia through design, to celebrate American heritage and the gift of unbridled nature with pencil, brush, and stylus. (by Anderson Design Group)
