Inspired By #87
Hey everyone! Welcome to another issue of Inspired By, a monthly(-ish?) newsletter from your friendly neighborhood designer Jan-Paul. Here are some of the things I came across the last few weeks that inspired me:
🦀 Joshua Blankenship • Vessel
Joshua Blankenship is a designer and director specializing in brand identity and digital products.
I’ve been a fan of his work since way back and he recently launched (yet another) side-project: Vessel, a place where he creates “Real Identities for Fictional Brands” when he has some free time.
Great idea (and great name). Love it.

🏀 JxmyHighroller • NBA Stats Videos
Jimmy is a YouTuber that creates mini NBA-basketball documentaries with in depth statistics. Even if you don’t care about basketball or sports, it’s still cool to see how he presents the numbers through creative graphs.

📎 Chippy
A browser extension that lets you bring ChatGPT wherever you go online.
Here’s how Chippy can help:
- 🧑💻 ChatGPT at your fingertips: Bring ChatGPT to any page you’re browsing!
- 🧠 Current page search: Refine your search to the current page for more immediate context or information beyond ChatGPT’s 2021 knowledge cutoff.
- 😌 Easy input: Skip the endless copy & paste, just open Chippy and select the text you’d like me to look at!

🎻 Tiny Desk with Post Malone
A great set of four songs by Post Malone including “Enough Is Enough” a track from his new album Austin that I have on repeat.
🎱 NaN Metrify
NaN Metrify is NaN’s no-bullshit take on the Neo / Grotesk sans-serif genre. And they created an wonderfull one-pager for it. (Check out their other fonts too — a beautiful collection of weird typefaces and not a weird collection of beautiful typefaces.
More Type Foundries
Mike Smith asked “What foundry is putting out sign-paintery typographic stuff?” and in the replies I found several cool type foundries, with perculuar names, like YeahRight Type Studio, Damn Type and Very Cool Studio. You should check them all out.
💬 Text FX Project
TextFX is an AI experiment designed to help rappers, writers, and wordsmiths expand their process.
It was created in collaboration with Lupe Fiasco, drawing inspiration from the lyrical and linguistic techniques he has developed throughout his career. TextFX consists of 10 tools, each is designed to explore creative possibilities with text and language.

This. is. art. And very hard to explain. In each episode John Wilson focuses on a random topic, like scaffolding or furniture covers, and in his exploration he meets people and strikes up conversations that lead in unpredictable directions. So strange and also touching and beautiful. (via Bram)
Thanks for reading and until next time! 👋🏻
