Inspired By #85
Hello! 👋🏻 Welcome to another issue of Inspired By, a monthly(-ish?) newsletter from your friend JP.
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the nice weather, I know I have. 😎 Here’s a selection of cool things I’ve come across last month, enjoy!
😍 Neil Hubert
Neil has “a fluency in illustration and hand lettering combined with a graphic designer’s foundation in layout, composition, and typography.” (as seen on his about page). Lovely stuff.

Tyler is the owner and designer of Misc. Goods Co., probably best know for their well-designed playing cards and leather goods, and he recently updated his (very original!) portfolio website. 😍
https://tylerdeeb.com/👁️ Eyecandy
This is a library of film techniques categorized by type. A cool collection of small loops and some information that teaches you about match cuts, rack focus, dutch angle and more.
Take this scene for example, I’ve seen this technique before, but I now know it’s called snorricam. 😄

🖼️ Posterdlad
PosterLad is an art project by Czech designer Vratislav Pecka. He believes that a poster does not have to always necessarily promote some event or product. Instead, Pecka uses the medium as a space for expressing his art ideas.
The main common features of Vratislav Pecka's work are simple shapes and vivid colors. Nice work! (via Matt)

💊 Dopesick
Not a recent series, but I finally got around to seeing this. It’s the true story of how doctors, dealers and drug companies conspired to get many people addicted to painkillers.
I was quite shocked to learn this was based on recent events, unbelievable. For more about this you should also watch HBO documentary "The Crime of the Century", that dives deeper into the big pharma scandals.
🏔️ Into Thin Air
Not recent either, but one that has been on my to-be-read list for quite some time. I finished this in just a few days, what a fascinating story about a guided trip for rich people to the top of mount Everest, that went terrible wrong.
I also watched Everest right after this, but the book is way more detailed (obviously).

🔥 Hot Wheels Logo
You’ve seen the hidden arrow in the Fedex logo and the bear in Toblerone’s (right?) but did you know about the hidden wheel in the Hot Wheels Logo? 🤯 (via)
That’s it! Thanks for reading and until next time! 👋🏻
