Based on Matt Ruff’s novel of the same name, Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Freeman as he meets up with his friend Letitia and his uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams!).
This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.
Yet another HBO-series I’m totally into, with an amazing mix of racial tension and straight-up horror!
Pro tip: after each episode, listen to the podcast for more on the ties between the horror genre and Black culture and how the show’s themes connect to contemporary social issues.

Using the neural-net tool Artbreeder, Photoshop and historical references, Daniel Voshart had created photoreal portraits of Roman Emperors. For this project, he has transformed, or restored (cracks, noses, ears etc.) almost a thousand images of busts to make the 54 emperors of The Principate (27 BC to 285 AD). 😱
