Inspired By #115

Hi! My name is Jan-Paul and this is where I share all the things that inspire me.
Noah Kahan: Out of Body
This documentary gives an honest look at the pressure singer-songwriter Noah Kahan faces as his career explodes.
And if you haven’t seen his Tiny Desk Concert yet, it starts with my favorite song from the new album, American Cards. As one YouTube commenter perfectly put it:
“A huge moment for sad people.”
Studio MPLS
More Noah! I’ve featured Studio MPLS before, but they're worth another mention. For Noah Kahan’s world tour they designed a collection of embroidered patches inspired by the album’s tracklist, and they’re gorgeous:

Vintage Patches on New Caps
More patches! This company gives authentic vintage patches a second life by stitching them onto new caps. The patch designs alone are worth browsing.
Pick a Patch Custom Vintage Patch Hats – Lost & Foundry
Sourced authentic vintage patches for custom made hats in categories of automotive, racing, beer, alcohol, tobacco, marlboro, ferrari, farming, agriculture, heritage, cars, trucks
The Non-Work
Tim Van Damme (aka Max Voltar) is a software designer at Figma. Outside of work he designs keyboards, pins, hats, and generally makes beautiful things. I like the smooth arrow-key navigation here too.
Max Voltar • The non-work.
The non-work.
7 Days of Silent Hiking in Sequoia National Park
Harmen shared another beautiful hiking film. It’s become one of my favorite weekend morning rituals: making a coffee, sitting down, and spending half an hour wandering with him through stunning landscapes.
Knicks Finals Print
Gavin Snider created this fantastic print celebrating the Knicks making the NBA Finals.
It was recently plagiarized by a massive Instagram account that appears to use AI to disguise copied work. Sad. But here’s the original:
Knicks Finals Print — Gavin Snider
A fine art print featuring the Madison Square Garden during the New York Knicks NBA Finals run.
Knicks Logo Concepts (1991)
More Knicks! With the Knicks winning the NBA Finals for the first time in 53 years, you see their iconic logo everywhere.
Lettering artist Michael Doret shared the original sketches and color concepts he created back in 1991. I love seeing the different directions he explored before landing on a logo that’s barely changed in more than 30 years.

Rafa Conde
I've been a fan of Rafa’s work for years. His personal website and side projects like Hand Mirror have always been a huge source of inspiration.
In this Dive Club episode, he talks about designing products that make people actually feel something.
And bonus points for the Metal Gear Solid story. I still remember Psycho Mantis reading my memory card and commenting on my saved games, so cool.
Heliophilia
A simple iOS app for people who love sunlight. Track daylight throughout the year, see how each day compares to the last, and take a moment each evening to write down something you’re grateful for.
A lovely idea, beautifully executed by Yannis Abelas, formerly a Product Designer at Polarsteps.

Love,
— Jan-Paul
