Photos I've taken, links I want to share, and a documentary about building a chair

Another day, another morning spent cultivating my sense of awe and wonder :)

I do not love going to work, but I love being on my bike, riding towards the sunrise every morning. Rubbernecking the sky is far and away the most dangerous daily practice I engage in. May I retain the privilege of doing so!!

Photographs

Here are some pictures I’ve taken recently that I like. Everything was shot on an Olympus E-M5, but with a variety of prime lenses- 28mm, 50mm, or 100mm. If photography is your thing, I welcome feedback! I’m just kinda winging it out there, and the editing process is largely beyond me.

A rusty padlock, securing a gate. Red brick wall in the background.
On my way to grab coffee last week, I passed by this gate.
An abandoned and junked car, through some foliage, with large scale graffiti in the background.
I pass this lot every morning- there are a few junked cars scattered, and the big wall in the background changes tags every couple weeks.
Sona hollering in the woods
Kat, Sona, and I went to the woods recently. Sona had something to say.
A monochrome landscape of a bridge over a river with a solitary leaf floating downstream
This is a little pedestrian bridge that’s on one of my favorite little bike loops to do with Sona.
A black metal chair against a red brick wall. The chair is casting a very distinct shadow on the wall as well.
A chair outside my favorite lunch spot.
A white woman, Bonnie, painting a kitty face on my kiddo, Sona.
I miss having a Bonnie upstairs.
Kat and Sona's hands exploring a leaf that had been largely been eaten by bugs.
From the previously mentioned trip to the woods.
Sona and Alex going through a pile of books
Alex caught a cold from this interaction.
A construction worker sitting in a trough cut into the road.
I walked by this scene on my lunch break last week.

A Documentary

Brian Boggs is a legendary chair maker. This documentary shows his process of harvesting bark for weaving seats, and his technique for weaving. I could watch him talk about this for many more hours. Sona and I have watched many videos of people making chairs by hand recently. In fact, when she asks to watch something, and I say no, her go-to first tactic is to say “Maybe we could watch someone build a chair??”.

She knows me all too well.

I’m signing off. Love to you all. Free Palestine.
