j0sh and the immaculate mailing list - but who's counting? (i'm not)

welcome to the immaculate mailing list

come in and know me better, man

greetings and salutations, loyal readers. what a cold and beautiful day it is! this issues is pretty off the cuff (i've no plan whatsoever!). it'll either be pretty short or pretty long. which would you prefer?

[insert audience answer here, as delivered by a rousing chorus of kind and caring friends/family/acquaintances]

great! now that we've got that settled, i've gotta go flip my laundry. brb.

cool, thanks for waiting.

recently, i've been playing around with building a personal webpage. it's nothing fancy- in fact, i've been trying to keep it as minimal as possible. you'll find mostly text, a few links, and some images. i'm imagining it as static repository for info sharing. minimal 'about me' stuff, but also some bigger picture stuff- resources on first aid/community health, bike/auto mechanics, diy projects, etc etc. definitely a living html document, i would expect new content on there more often than these newsletters come out, just in smaller doses.

last week

one of the kids i work with said to me, "i'm gonna throw you in the junkyard", which is, i think, a fantastic bit of language. the next day, he tried a new spin and said "i'm gonna throw you in your water bottle", which, i have to admit, as someone who (somewhat embarrassingly) carries a $30 dollar waterbottle (it was a gift!!), is very well targeted. truly, my favorite part of this job is just seeing what this kid is going to say next- they are very funny.

i fell asleep watching veronica mars again

okay, i didn't actually do that, but i did just watch through the first season for the first time. i love short little fun mysteries like that. some of my first favorite books were the encyclopedia brown series. i also used to love the show psych. i don't know how i missed veronica mars when it was on originally- it would have been right up my alley at the time. alas, life is long, if we're lucky, and the internet holds much, so i can watch when i please :).

fondly thinking of the first time i saw mitski

it was at spoke folks in grand rapids, in 2014, with lvl up, who were also acting as mitski's band. it was sick. while looking up the flyer for this show, however, i shattered an illusion of mine- it had become canon in my brain that the sidekicks were also on that show, but they played the same venue the week before. i must have conflated the two! anway, happy new mitski day.

okay i'm calling it

have a nice day y'all

xoxo josh
