Joseph Zitt's [as if in dreams] 2024-04-23
Hi. I'm Joseph Zitt. I moved from the US to Israel in 2017. This is my newsletter about more-or-less daily life in my city in the shadow of war. You can select these links to subscribe or unsubscribe. There are more links at the bottom. You can also read this email online here. Here we go...
It's the first day of Passover. It's the 200th day of the war. That means that I've been writing these posts and newsletters for the past two hundred days straight. It's time to take a break.
The war appears to be at a stalemate. There don't seem to be any signs of imminent victory or defeat. Negotiations are stuck. Each side is insisting that the other side give in on the issue on which it is the most adamant. Peace isn't happening.
When I started the project, I intended to post every day until the end of the war. Wars here tend to be quite short. This one isn't.
Meanwhile, I have to get rolling on other projects, and these posts are taking up almost all of my time. I need to get back to work on my feature-length film project, which I haven't touched since the start of the war. I have to get rolling again on publishing Afternoon Prayers, which I just need to send off. I may or may not find more focus at my job again. And, in the next few weeks, I have to figure out some long and short-term future plans.
So I'm pausing these daily posts for now. If anything happens that warrants reporting, I'll let you know. If I see anything particularly interesting along the pedestrian street, I probably won't be able to resist writing about it.
I'll still be active on Facebook and, of course, email, and in the neighborhood. The dogs, cats, birds, bugs, slugs, spiders, lizards, hedgehog and I will still be around.
Feel free to forward the newsletter to other people who might be interested.
Here’s an archive of past newsletters.
You can find me via email, Bluesky, Mastodon, Facebook, and, just out of inertia, X/Twitter. There's more about me and my books, music, and films at josephzitt.com.
The newsletter’s official mailing address is 304 S. Jones Blvd #3567, Las Vegas NV 89107. (I’m in Israel, but if physical mail comes to me at that Las Vegas address, it’ll get scanned and emailed. I don’t expect that to happen much. If you want to send me physical mail, ask me for a real address.)
