‘Project’ is now ‘system’ [D01.21.02.007]

Hi all. Just a quick update today.

Two new blog posts. The first is an important and overdue terminology change.

Heretofore I’ve always referred to ‘the thing you’re organising’ as ‘a project’. That made sense for a while, and I always assumed that JD would get more traction with people at work because that’s where the most chaos is.

Well it turns out nobody can be bothered changing their filesystem at work and it’s too hard and the boss doesn’t think it’s worthwhile. (That guy.) The fools! Meanwhile we’re all at home super organised and chilled. Look at us.

So! ‘Project’ is now ‘system’, reflecting the fact that most of you aren’t organising ‘projects’ in the classic sense.

We’ve updated the Workbook (4th ed. is available in your platform of choice), and site updates will follow.

And then just a quick note about managing ‘people & organisations’ which do, it turns out, benefit from the good old alphabet.

We’re hard at work recording the Workshop, learning how to use video editing tools and green screens (green cotton stretched over a projector screen; green card magnetically attached to the whiteboard), learning how to set up scenes, to plan it so you don’t shoot (pun!) yourself in the foot later. All that stuff.

It’s a lot of fun. Thank you, those of you who’ve already got on board.

Until next time, j.
