Track-By-Track: O/B #19
Ostensibly a response to Salt-N-Pepa, L'Trimm's diss of 'Push It' misses the mark somewhat – they seem to think it meant 'push it away' rather than, uh, 'push it in'. Anyway, it's a happy misinterpretation, since it leads to the unforgettable line:
“You got to grab that thing when it's up in your face
Cause if you push it too far, he'll go another place.”
Musically it's a sonically-less-adventurous inversion of 'Push It', with L'Trimm's schoolgirl delivery frequently crossing the line between cute and grating. But that was all part of their appeal, and still is: their biggest hit, 'Cars With The Boom', went viral on TikTok last year. I hope they're getting some royalties.

Note: this is an entry in the Track-By-Track series for my mix for O/B.
Track-By-Track is a series that looks back at records you will have heard in my mixes, one by one in the order they were played. Who made them, and when? How did I come across them? And what do they make me feel?
