Track-By-Track: O/B #15
I was turned on to the Canadian house labels Hi-Bias, Bigshot and Blast by Tama Sumo and Prosumer playing tracks like 'Get Into The Music', 'Got U On My Mind' and 'Come Get My Lovin' at parties and on the radio. This would have been late 2008/early 2009, when I was going to see them play every time they came to London, and shortly before a group of us went on an unforgettable adventure to see the two of them and Steffi do their 5€ admission party in Berghain Kantine.
Tama Sumo played 'Got U On My Mind' on one particular Tothebone radio show from October 2009, on which she and Prosumer were guests. The show's tracklist reads like a high-definition snapshot of that particular moment in time: 'Late Night Jam' by Levon Vincent from Tama Sumo's Berghain mix CD; 'Vacuum Boogie' by Floating Points; 'Gabryelle Refix' by D-Malice; and Prosumer playing a series of classic records that I had already come to associate closely with him: the 4-Play EP by Terrence Parker, 'We Are Unity' by Umosia, 'Real Love (Obsession)' by Nexus 21.
'Get Into The Music' was another of those records, and it started a love affair with Nick Fiorucci and Michael Ova of DJ's Rule and their frequent collaborator Andrew Komis (Komix), who together are responsible for a not inconsiderable stretch of my record shelves. To name a few: Melina Marks, Jillian Mendez, Mr & Mrs Dale, Dionne, Landlord and Amy Jackson on Bigshot; Z-Formation (including some of Nick Holder's first ever tracks) and Groove Sector on Hi-Bias; Voices (Hayden Andre Brown & Ron Allen of Strobe) and Hi-Bias themselves on Blast...and I still have only a fraction of their output.
Tomorrow's record is also one I first heard played by Prosumer, at a Tief party in Corsica Studios in February 2012. And i'm thrilled to say that it's a guest post from the man himself.

Note: this is an entry in the Track-By-Track series for my mix for O/B.
Track-By-Track is a series that looks back at records you will have heard in my mixes, one by one in the order they were played. Who made them, and when? How did I come across them? And what do they make me feel?
