Track-By-Track: BSU #06
Call me partisan, but this was without question one of the best tunes of last year. Much of my pride in helping this record see the light of day has derived from the quality of Andrea's music itself, and it still sounds as fresh as the first time he sent it to me more than a year ago.
I really believe in it and think that there isn't much stuff today that reaches this standard on both a technical and emotional level. It's musical, dynamic, playful, sophisticated, offbeat, serious and fun all at the same time, in a way that many of the best classic records are. It also poses a satisfyingly tricky challenge to the DJ because it mixes well with other things but only in certain ways.
I only have one faint misgiving, and that's the fact that the original name of the track was 'Feed The Ducks', and to me it really does sound like a trip out to the local pond with a bag of sliced bread and, most probably, wellies on.

Note: this is an entry in the Track-By-Track series for my mix for Butter Side Up.
Track-By-Track is a series that looks back at records you will have heard in my mixes, one by one in the order they were played. Who made them, and when? How did I come across them? And what do they make me feel?
