Flamingo is back after the summer break and this time with a little treat: an hour taken from the recording of me playing for Social Spot at Closer in Kyiv back in June. I wrote at length about this gig here and I’ve also made available a tracklist and download of the full recording here (for paying subscribers).
The excerpt in the second half of this episode of Flamingo is taken from the middle of the morning, once I’d managed to steady my early nerves, slowed down a bit from all the techno, and found a funky, percussion-heavy flow that soundtracked the start of a new day. By the time I played Ikonika’s ‘Your Body’ the sun was well up and everyone was smiling.
In the first half of the episode I play many of my best records from this year, including the latest EPs from current favs Magic Carpet, Krunk Kulture, The Abstract Eye and Doildoshi. If you’ve been following my other posts none of this will be new to you, but it brings me a lot of satisfaction to present this amazing new music in a radio format.
I have to mention the DECADA 2 LP, which I wrote about here and is finally out in record stores – you do not want to miss this! And finally the compilation of original and unreleased tunes by Australian producer Planisphere, Definitive Transmissions, on For Those That Knoe, which is now available in digital format as well as cassette.
