I didn’t manage to do a Bandcamp Friday round-up this month, but this episode of Flamingo is full of the things I’ve been buying on the platform, mixed in with the fruits of an afternoon rooting through the second hand bins at Carpet & Snares here in Lisbon.
Carpet have a 50% sale all month so you can bet I’ll be going back a few more times. My favourite finds from last week are the Add Noise EP (which I recognised from having heard Gwenan play it here and there) and the Freaks remix, one of those endless house tracks that just bounces along without a care in the world.
I’d like to make special mention of the Krunk Kulture compilation Thandai: Flavours Of The East, from which I play two tracks. It’s one of three volumes of music by producers primarily from India and South East Asia, the other two being Kaala Khatta and Ganga Jamuna. Each compilation has its own particular flavour and stunning artwork by Studio Moebius in Mumbai.
