EOS Radio & Flamingo Update
An update on my various adventures on the airwaves.
Joe Delon - EOS Radio Midsummer Special (June 2022)
My EOS Radio residency continued in June with a special dedicated to Midsummer, the exact day on which this show was broadcast. More specifically, I themed the mix to A Midsummer Night’s Dream and its tales of metamorphosis, intrigue and star-crossed lovers on the edge of consciousness. This play is of personal historical relevance for me: my parents met while performing it in a university amateur dramatics production back in Singapore over 40 years ago.
The mix opens and closes with the acappella of ‘Stacey’s Dream’ from the 12” of Stacey Q’s ‘Two Of Hearts’, which most people probably know from the break in Jakatta’s ‘American Dream’. Here the vocal serves to delimit the dreamworld - slightly sexy, slightly creepy - in which the rest of the mix takes place. It feels like a sort of fever dream that jumps between locations - primarily in North America - that I’ve never visited but which, through music, have come to mean a lot to me: the Motor City; the Castro; CBGBs, the Muzic Box, the Garage, the Saint… with a few flights of fancy to Sydney, Seoul and London along the way.
I hope you enjoy this window into my inner world.

For June’s show I invited DJ, producer, writer and friend Dana Kuehr as my guest and she turned in her own cosmic journey of a mix, taking us from organic meditations through quirky downtempo and deeeep house, finishing with funky breaks and what I’m sure is GU but can’t put my finger on right now.
This set sounds like what might have happened had Dana played for another couple of hours after her space-travelling 3-hour set at Cochilo at Waking Life last month. Who knows what might have happened? Thank you Dana for your wonderful contribution to this show.
Flamingo update
In other news, I have decided to call time on my monthly show on Rádio Quântica, Flamingo. It’s been four years of putting the show together - initially with my friend Will Grant and then flying solo - and it has brought me much enjoyment and new music. But the world keeps spinning and I am going to be dedicating more time to other exploits - gigs, writing, working - for the foreseeable future.
The Flamingo archive will remain available on Mixcloud and Soundcloud and I am sure I will be popping up on other radio stations and shows here and there. Thanks to all of the people who’ve listened and got involved over the years, and to Rádio Quântica for providing a welcoming home.
