Support JMC students this Giving Tuesday

Help Madison students access experiential learning opportunities

Dec. 2 is Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving that takes place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year, James Madison College is raising funds for Experiential Learning Scholarships for students.

Thanks to the generosity of a JMC alumnus, your Giving Tuesday gift will go twice as far. The first $5,000 in donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling your impact for JMC students.

Dean’s Note: Help us expand experiential learning opportunities

Every semester, Madison students leave Case Hall to test their knowledge in the field. Through JMC’s experiential learning requirement, our students help draft public policy, research human rights issues and work alongside nonprofit organizations tackling complex social challenges. They travel abroad to learn about international relations in Belgium, explore culture and politics in Brazil and study European politics in France.

These opportunities are where theory meets practice and classroom discussions translate to real-world problem-solving.

On Giving Tuesday, we’re asking you to support JMC’s Experiential Learning Fund. Scholarships awarded through this fund help students cover the costs — tuition, travel, housing — that can otherwise put these opportunities out of reach.

This year, we awarded 66 experiential learning scholarships to JMC students. In 2026, we want to do even more.

Your gift — whether $25 or $2,500 — directly supports a student who’s ready to take the next step in their education.

Thank you for investing in the next generation of public servants and leaders.

Experiential Learning at JMC

  • Every year, roughly one-third of JMC students study abroad or participate in an internship for credit. These opportunities are central to the Madison education and allow students to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom to real-world settings.

  • Experiential Learning Scholarships help ensure that all students can participate in these critical opportunities, regardless of their financial backgrounds.

  • In 2025, we awarded 66 experiential learning scholarships to JMC students. In 2026, we want to do even more.

  • Donations made on Giving Tuesday will directly support students in need and help cover travel, tuition and other expenses.
