Next Stop: Last Stop
Hey friends,
Well. I watched I Saw the TV Glow last weekend and I’m kinda still processing it. I’m working on a longer piece to help me do so, and I imagine I’ll post it here when it’s done.
I also turned 42 last week. It was fairly uneventful, and that’s quite alright with me. I’m not one of those “oh my god I can’t believe 1993 is as far away to us as 1963 was when we were kids” or whatever kind of people, and I’m not generally averse to aging — it’s certainly better than the other option. But I do find it kind of hard to believe that I’m now firmly in my 40s. I mean, you have to admit. It is a little weird, isn’t it?
May was a fairly busy month. I got to play Bump in the Dark with one of my favorite local weirdos, and Mary played the game for the first (!) time as well. I wrapped up the semester at work and spent some time with my brother’s family and my mom, which was nice. I also got to participate in this really cool event for Mental Health Awareness Month, where myself and four other mental health professionals livestreamed a game of A Fear Within, a TTRPG about a group of children who face down The Fear with the help of the powerful monsters that live inside them. Kyle, the game’s designer and our GM, referred to it like “It meets Pokemon” and that feels pretty right.
I imagine that part two will be uploaded to YouTube in a few days, but in the meantime, you can watch part one here if you’re so inclined. (I only barely know how to use Twitch but it looks like the VOD of Part 2 is here.)
That’s all I have for now. The crowdfunding campaign launches a week from tomorrow and that’s not terrifying at all. Follow along here if you haven’t already.
Gratefully yours,
jex.
