But I Dreamt We Were All Beautiful & Strong
Hey everybody! Exciting news -- after Substack's very public unwillingness to deplatform literal white supremacists, we've landed at Buttondown. We'll see how we like it as a platform but so far it feels fully functional and straightforward.
With the move to the new platform, I've decided to go with a new name as well. You can should be able to find the archive for But I Dreamt We Were All Beautiful & Strong here (still figuring out exactly how that works) and over on Substack, but from here on out, this newsletter is called The Last Pine Harbinger. This represents bringing more focus to the work I'm doing in the tabletop roleplaying space, however you'll still get my random musings about psychology and mindfulness and therapy and everything else, maybe even a little fiction and poetry now and then. Hopefully you'll stick around and you find the Buttondown experience just as good as if not better than what we had going at the other place.

The most important piece of news I wanted to share was that in June, I'll be launching a crowdfunding campaign for a revised edition of Bump in the Dark, my tabletop roleplaying game about building community and beating up monsters. I've held off on saying anything just yet because June still feels really far away and there are a lot of moving pieces that I'm having to figure out as we go (getting printing quotes! learning about international shipping! confirming artists! ahhh!), but I'm really excited and I hope that you can help make it a successful campaign. Funds will be going toward newly commissioned art, updated rules, new reference materials, and--most importantly--a premium, offset hardcover with cool features like a bookmark ribbon. I'm uhhhhhh very anxious about it, but also very excited, and I hope you'll come along for the ride.
You can follow along on Backerkit here.
Finally, I'll be making my triumphant return to Ontario next month as an industry guest at the 2024 Breakout Con in Toronto. I'll be running two sessions each of Bump in the Dark and my lightweight mash up of Bump and Scooby-Doo, Hunters, Inc. In addition to myself, there are a ton of other incredible guests and dozens of sessions of various TTRPGs and board games.
If you're in the area, it would be great to see you -- and as of right now there are still seats available in all four of those sessions! It's going to be an excellent time.
That's all from me for now. Once again, welcome aboard, and hopefully see you soon!
