No. 005 — The End and The Future
Jessy at the Lake — No. 005 — July 28, 2020
Dear Friends,
And so we come to the end. Maybe.
Welcome to another edition of Jessy at the Lake — a limited-run newsletter about my two-month spell in residence at Lake Studios Berlin. This week marks the conclusion of what has been a very inspired period of my career as a performance-maker. My humble thanks to Marcela Giesche, artistic director of Lake Studios, and everyone else who has kept the pulse of this residency strong.
On Friday I’ll be giving one last performance as part of Lake Studios’ monthly Unfinished Fridays series. Don’t think of this as the culmination of my time here — it is still very much a work in progress.
If you’d like to catch it, you have options:
-
In person. If you’re in the Berlin area, we’ll be doing a private showing on Friday, 31 July at 7:30pm. The show will include work by my co-residents The Instrument and myself. Space is limited. If you’d like to come, drop me an email: a.living.room.live@gmail.com
-
Stream. Starting 31 July at 8pm Berlin time, Lake Studios will make available a video stream featuring work from all the Lake Studios Re-connecting Residents. The stream will play for 48 hours. On Sunday, 2 August at 8pm Berlin time, it will be taken down. Click here to stream Password: unfinished68

Audio. My piece is actually a duet between a live performance and a pre-recorded sound score. The sound score is designed to work both as an accompaniment to my solo performance and as a standalone audio composition. It will broadcast on Cashmere Radio on 3 August and shortly thereafter be available in my show archives.

The Future. Be it in a theater, a living room, or when you and I are walking down the street, having a conversation, I am certain this work will continue to find its way into the world. If you are reading this now, you have participated in its evolution, and I thank you for that.
Much love,
~ jessy
