Mabamba Swamp (near Lake Victoria, Wakiso/Entebbe area) is one of Uganda’s best birding spots, especially famous for the Shoebill. A one-day safari typically combines boat tracking + guided bird walks (if time allows) and ends with a relaxed return to Entebbe/Kampala.

Suggested 1-Day Itinerary

06:30–07:00 – Hotel pickup (Entebbe/Kampala)

• Pickup and drive to Mabamba Swamp area.

• Brief briefing with your birding guide.

07:30–11:30 – Birding in Mabamba Swamp (Boat experience)

• Use a canoe/boat with a knowledgeable local guide/boatman.

• Main focus: Shoebill tracking (patient searching).

• Other common species you may spot:

  • Grey-headed kingfisher

  • Papyrus gonolek

  • Pied kingfisher

  • Malachite kingfisher

  • Fish eagles (seasonally/nearby)
