Eat This Newsletter: Trust busted
Hello
I’m sorry I linked to the piece on slavery in Aporia magazine.
In my defense, I will say that I did note both my disquiet and that I had not had time to investigate as fully as I wanted. Luckily for me, a long-time supporter pointed me to RationalWiki and its entries for the magazine and Lipton Matthews, the author of the slavery article.
Least said, soonest mended, although I will admit that as far as Matthews is concerned, what sprang to my mind was Lewis Carroll’s lovely parody:
Speak roughly to your little boy,
And beat him when he sneezes:
He only does it to annoy,
Because he knows it teases.
“Aporia,” Wikipedia tells me, “can also denote the state of being perplexed, or at a loss, at such a puzzle or impasse”. Riiiight.
Huge thanks to Dan Etherington.
All the best
Jeremy
