Eat This Podcast: Celebrating Passover and Easter
Hello
I don’t know whether the last supper was a Passover Seder. I do know that the rituals of the Passover dinner have been in place for thousands of years, while there don’t seem to be any universal elements about Easter celebratory foods.
This episode looks at these two contrasting aspects of ritual food.
Susan Weingarten, a historian of Jewish food, tells me about an item on the Passover table that is a bit of a latecomer, only 2000 years old. Lois Long then tells me about a recipe made famous by her mother, Edna M. Holmgren, 50 years ago, recently expropriated by some Christians to retell the story of the resurrection.
Take a listen.
All the best
Jeremy
