A brief trip to the Land of Enchantment (read: New Mexico) was made this past weekend, a result of Davey having two days off and nothing to do. The original cast, David, Charles, and I, along with supporting character Jonathan, were wrangled to rectify this downtime.

With extraterrestrials eyed, satellite saturated starry skies seen, birds birded, ridges rambled, watchtowers watched, fishes flung, dunes descended, sunburns secured, and cruise control canceled, the essence of the roadie had been distilled gracefully into 3 nights and ~1,400 miles.

Interesting things happen when your town is brought to fame through speculation and mysticism. Roswell is like Sedona without the vortices. Mayor Dennis J. Kintigh, leverages his status as a retired FBI agent to crack jokes about aliens with President Obama. The light posts are dressed in alien livery. I feel like all of this comes to a head when you visit the Roswell International UFO Museum and Research Center (I mean look at this website) and try to make sense of the threads being spun before you. There's an entire section dedicated to alienwashing (idk either) carved Mayan tomb lids. You will find typos in abduction stories.

Alamogordo's Museum of Space History provides record of a research balloon landing in the same area, at the same time as the UFO incident in 1947.

This is what Roswell's success hinges upon.
