volume up? (r/l/D #5)
Words:
2023 is off to a nice start- i had the pleasure of playing a set at Autumn Records in Winooski VT with the absolutely charming and wonderful Webb Crawford. the show made me think a lot about volume. i have been so used to loud shows that i have come to prefer them- i have always felt that the power of the volume added a physical aspect to the sound that really enhanced the experience. the first few minutes of Webb's performance, i was not fully concentrating- i was sitting there wishing it was louder. but i slowly began to realize that the effort it took for me to calm my mind and intently listen had nearly the same physical effect (affect?) on my body that loud volume does. constantly learning.
My Music:
Feb. 4th sees the return of my experimental percussion showcase (also called) radical/love/DRUM at Community of Sound. 3 acts, each exploring music and drumming in different ways. It will be amazing
Feb 10th my first release of the year drops on MuteAnt Sounds Netlabel. I dont have the link yet, look for it on Bandcamp & I will include it in next month's newsletter. the recording is 4 pieces for steel tongue drum.
