Hello hello, friends and good folk, and happy May Day to you all!

I hope you’re having a wonderful week where you are! The weather here has been lovely and a very nice mood boost with all the sunshine and fresh cool spring air.

WEBSITE UPDATE!

A screenshot of Jessi's new website design with a bright pink header at the top showing off their colorful logo of a speech bubble with a pencil, a paintbrush, and a cane inside it. The menu at the top shows Portfolio, Comics, Illustration, About, and Blog. The page shown is the Comics Portfolio where a couple of micro comics are fully visible. The top one's description reads, "the (tiny) friend. Tiny friends help each other with big problems! A micro comic about an old fairy and her dandelion duties. Self-published. PDF available in shop. 4 pages. 2023." The second comic is cut off a bit and doesn't show the details.

I’m very happy to share that my website is back up and running— and with a brand new look!! I’m especially pleased with the new Comics Portfolio layout and the About Page. I’m also super excited about my new Friends Page! It’s still in-progress— I have several emails on backlog that I need to get to in order to finish up more of it lol. But isn’t it fun? 😃

Another screenshot of Jessi's new website design on the Friends and Recommendations page. A tile pattern of illustrations from other artists is shown. Text above reads, "This page is a mix of people I’m friendly with and people who I don’t know personally but whose work I think is amazing, and all of them are worth checking out! Hover over their image to see their name and info and to click to visit them. Many of them are part of the Cartoonist Cooperative with me, so if you make comics, you should join us! This page is in-progress, so check back regularly for more cool people making cool things!"

The Shop is closed for the time being— I ran into an issue with the eCommerce and editing plugins I use on the site— they don’t like each other very much lol.

I’m hoping to get that back up and running again soon; I’d really like to offer some prints in there of my newer works soon. In the meantime, you can access my digital comics in my itch.io shop!

I invite you to take a look around the new site and let me know what you think! Oh! And I almost forgot to mention— I’ve created a new page for newsletter downloads: Newsletter Pals! You can enter using the password Jinkies! to get coloring pages of my work to download for free as a thank you for being a subscriber 😉

NIF 2025 IS LIVE!

There’s something strangely freeing about being so chaotically busy with a group of friends who are also all equally chaotically busy as you all work on the same project to bring it to life.

It really forces you to let go of control because you simply can’t control it all, and knowing that I’m working with folks all feeling the same way somehow makes me feel cozy inside, like when I would go to a friend’s house after school as a teen to build sets for our upcoming play.

Sure, it’s extra work and you’re not getting paid to do it, but it’s FUN and you do it with people you love, so it’s GREAT!

Just like making any kind of art, organizing NIF with so many other folks has been an absolute joy, and I’m so, SO glad it’s finally here so we can share everything with you!

The first official Nib + Ink Fest is officially LIVE!!! I’m SO excited to present all our hard work from the last 10 or so months!!

We have over 70 comics from contributors around the world available now in the NIF Marketplace all throughout May, over two dozen free events over the next five weekends, including multiple portfolio reviews happening throughout the month, our fundraising collection of over 50 micro comics Oops All Comics! Zine, a free comics Sampler with preview pages from 25 ongoing webcomics, NIF interviews, and more!

MY NIB + INK FEST COMICS!

Cover for Jessi Eoin’s Comics and Art Collection Number One. An illustrated self-portrait of Jessi Eoin sitting on a purple couch next to a cheery green plant and a few sheets of paper with queer illustrations on them. They are a fat, white person with wavy brown hair and blue eyes with dark circles under them; they're wearing a nasal strip across the bridge of their nose and are furiously scribbling on their tablet. The background is an abstract pink and yellow. To the right of them, a white balloon shows what Jessi is drawing so intensely: a black and white drawing of a tastefully nude fat person with the word butt on it. On the left side, text appears in shades of purple and pink, handwritten font: "Jessi Eoin. Illustrations and Comics. And Butts."

You can pick up a copy of my Comics + Art Collection #1 in the NIF Marketplace— it features my works from November 2022 to October 2023 and includes a wide array of experimental topics and styles, from slice of life to autobio to fantasy comics, as well as plenty of fat-, queer-, and disabled-positive illustrations that you all know me for!

A colorful comic titled Kitchen Magic. The scenes take place in a cozy kitchen area with jewel-toned quilts tossed over the backs of purple couches and plants all around. A cauldron bubbles in another room. Panel 1: A yellow kettle whistles in front of a tiled wall. Panel 2: A fat, older, disabled witch with brown skin and white hair walks with a tray of steaming tea and cookies toward a gray spirit who sits crying on one of the couches with their head on the table; their tears stream off the table. A cat stares at them. The witch says, "Talk to me, darlin'." Panel 3: The spirit sniffs, smiling gratefully as the witch places the tray onto the table. Panel 4: The cat tries to sneak a cookie while they talk. Panel 5: The two continue talking; the spirit now blue-ish. It pats the cat on its lap. The witch drinks some tea. Panel 6: The spirit now glows blue, waves of rainbow colors emanating off its form as it says, "Ahhhh! Thanks, friend!" The witch smiles and says, "Any time, love."

Remember the preview for this comic from a while back? Well, here it is in all its glory! You can now get a copy of it and about 50 other comics in our Oops All Comics! fundraiser zine! It’s only available until 11:59 PM ET on May 31, so pick yours up in the NIF shop today!

The panel description reads, "Whether it's for a webcomic, a self-published mini comic, a traditionally published graphic novel, or otherwise, each comic project has its own needs to meet its final form, and every comic creator has their own way of responding to that puzzle with their own creative process. Join our esteemed Cartoonist Co-op members Kody Okamoto (KEEPING TIME, RUBBER MATCH, DEMON BOY), Jasmine Walls (BROOMS, THE LAST SESSION, VIXEN: NYC), Blue Delliquanti (O HUMAN STAR, ADVERSARY, ACROSS A FIELD OF STARLIGHT), and Ashanti Fortson (LEAF LACE, THE HUE OF HEAVEN, SMALLNESS) as they discuss their own creative processes and how they approach new projects with fellow Co-op member and moderator Jessi Eoin (A LONG EVICTION, STARVED, NEW GARDEN). This event is suitable for comic creators of all experience levels and will include a Q+A with our panelists at the end." An anthropomorphic inkwell and an anthropomorphic nib pen both holding comic pages decorate the graphic.

And I should also say, last night, I got a small preview of what Mariah-Rose Marie’s keynote speech will be like today, and y’all— please wish me luck, because I WILL be crying, it’s so good, and I go up to do the orientation right after they finish 😂 So if you come by tonight and I look all red-eyed, you’ll know why lol
