(4) Remember That the Audience Always Wants You to Succeed:

I’ve never met anyone who went to an event hoping to be bored and disappointed. The audience really, really wants you to succeed, and if you give them even the slightest chance at having a good time, they will cheer you on. 

At this point in my career, I've given numerous talks, presentations, and lunch and learns. I used to be deathly afraid of getting in front of people to talk and truth is, I still get somewhat nervous before a talk. I've come across some bits of advice on public speaking and this is a good collection.
