Tudor Wassail at Michelham Priory / A Brighton Cyclist / This Machine Kills Wasps

Hello subscribers old and new!

I hope you are not too cold, wherever you are. This is one of those mornings where I like to go and look at the sea, to remind myself I could easily be even colder, should I make some poor life decisions.

Michelham Priory Tudor Wassail

I’m usually a one-Wassail-a-year lad, but I made it to a moat-ed Tudor priory in the middle of nowhere on Saturday afternoon to sing at some more humans and fruit trees. Photos, audio files, and mildly reflective write-up below.

A Brighton Cyclist

“Sorry mate, I didn’t see you.”

Ah, the phrase so well known to walkers and cyclists everywhere, after a driver has nearly driven into you. Imagine how much more honest the world would be if these people instinctively told the truth. “Sorry mate, I wasn’t looking”.

I am not sure how many of the readers of my main blog are interested in my active travel observations, so I have siphoned these off to a separate Wordpress home.

The first proper post was inspired by a nice exchange with a couple crossing the road, juxtaposed with the previous week’s run-in with a violent taxi driver.

There’s also an Instagram page, for people those way inclined. I’m trying to ensure a 1:1 ratio between photos of lovely things I’ve seen and lovely places I’ve been via walking and cycling, and really, really selfish parking.

That’s it for this week! I’m doing Sketch-Off tomorrow at Museum of Comedy, and a music gig at some cafe in Preston Park on Thursday, so no doubt mentions of these will happen in the next newsletter, alongside my review of the gig of the year (Half Man Half Biscuit at the Electric Ballroom…)
