Welcome to the inaugural edition of our quarterly newsletter for families and supporters of first-year JMC students!
Greetings from the James Madison College Advising Team,
Welcome to the inaugural edition of our quarterly newsletter for families and supporters of first-year JMC students! We're thrilled that you've joined our community and excited to begin this journey of keeping you connected to your Madisonian's college experience.
In each quarterly edition, you can expect to find important academic dates and deadlines for the upcoming months and resources to help you continue supporting your student from home. In addition to the newsletter, you can also visit the “Supporting Your JMC Student” page on our website.
Thank you for entrusting us with your student's academic journey. Together, we'll help them thrive during these transformative years at James Madison College.

Helpful Resources
JMC Advising: Advisors are here to help year-round. Students can visit our page for instructions on making an appointment, updated drop-in/express advising hours or advisor contact info.
Spartan One Stop: Connect with this centralized office to address questions or concerns related to student accounts, the Office of the Registrar or the Office of Financial Aid.
Case Hall: Home to many JMC students, Case Hall is located in south campus at the intersection of Shaw Lane and Chestnut Road. Visit REHS for more info or to connect with Case Hall staff.
Health Services: Olin Health Center, MSU Pharmacy and MSU Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) are available to support student’s health and wellbeing.
Counseling in Case Hall: A CAPS counselor will be available to meet with JMC students in Room 363 Case Hall every Monday between 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., beginning Sept. 8. Students can schedule a time via the CAPS website (students who would benefit from seeing a counselor before that date can schedule a time in another MSU location via CAPS).
Accommodations: MSU students who have a disability that substantially limits a major life activity can register with the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities (RCPD) and may be eligible to receive accommodations.
Part-Time and On-Campus Jobs: Connect with Madison’s Career Services office for guidance on searching and applying for part-time and on-campus jobs. Karissa Chabot-Purchase (kcp@msu.edu), the college’s Assistant Director of Career Services, is happy to assist.
JMC Events: Students can find out about events happening in Case Hall on the college’s website. Following JMC on Instagram is another good way to stay informed about events and opportunities for current students.
Spring 2026 Class Enrollment: Enrollment for the Spring Semester will begin in late October. Students should meet with their academic advisor prior to that time.
