What students can do now to prepare for Spring enrollment
Hello from the James Madison College Advising Team,
Throughout this fall, it has been incredibly rewarding to watch your students find their stride in the JMC community. They’ve engaged in classroom debates, formed study groups in Case Hall and connected with professors during office hours. Outside of the classroom, they’ve joined student orgs, participated in on-campus events and begun to build the relationships that will define their Madison experience.
As you continue to support your students from home, we have shared some resources below that are especially helpful around the midway point of the semester. You can find more information about support services available to JMC students on our website.

Helpful Resources
Academic Advising & Preparing for Spring: Spring 2026 course enrollment kicks off at the end of October. Earlier this week, your student received an email from the Office of the Registrar with the specific date and time that enrollment will open for them.
To get ready, all JMC students should meet with an academic advisor over the next few weeks (earlier is always better). Instructions on how students can schedule an appointment are available on our website.
Mental Health Support: Free, confidential counseling is available to all MSU students through CAPS. A CAPS Connect counselor is in Room 363 Case Hall every Monday between 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Students who would like to see a counselor outside of that window can schedule a time in another MSU location via CAPS. Emergency mental health services are available 24/7 by calling 517-355-8270, (Press 1).
Health Services: The on-campus Olin Health Center offers a wide range of health and wellness services (learn more about their services, eligibility and how to schedule an appointment). Prescriptions can be filled at the MSU Pharmacy or your pharmacy of choice.
Case Hall and Residence Life: MSU REHS handles questions related to living on campus. Their website has helpful information on submitting maintenance requests, on-campus safety and roommate conflict.
Education Abroad at JMC: If your student is interested in studying abroad, we highly recommend they attend JMC’s Education Abroad Fair on Nov. 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. in Club Spartan. For students curious about completing an internship, our Internships 101 event on Nov. 5 will provide a really helpful introduction. View all upcoming events for students on JMC’s website.
