Internship & Job Opportunities

Hal and Jean Glassen Scholars Program 
Are you interested in natural resources, conservation and public policy? Applications for the Hal and Jean Glassen Scholars program are now open! Students will be placed with a natural resource-related agency or organization in the Greater Lansing area while enrolled in ANR 491: Special Topics in Agriculture and Natural Resources. This program will run May 11 to Aug. 11. Students from any major are eligible to apply. Apply by Jan. 15. Learn more and apply via MSU College of Agriculture & Natural Resources 

Allen Neighborhood Center Fellowship Opportunities 
The Allen Neighborhood Center is a place-based, non-profit organization that serves as a hub for neighborhood revitalization and for activities that promote the health and well-being of Lansing’s Eastside community. They are currently seeking candidates for their various fellowships. Each position will be 15 hours per week and be paid $12.48/hour if the student qualifies for work study. Otherwise, students will be paid a $650 stipend. Different fellowship opportunities are listed below. Apply by Nov. 1. 

  • Community Farming Fellow: Great for students interested in working and learning about an all-natural, sustainable, and local farm located in the Eastside community. 

  • Community Engagement and Advocacy Fellow: This position assists the Outreach Office with whatever they might need as well as running programs and events to bring the community together. 

  • Veggie Box Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Fellow: Fellows will assist in the development and promotion of Veggie Box, manage relationships with local farmers and members, as well as support other areas as needed. 

  • Food Pantry and Farmers Market Fellowship: Great for those interested in food pantry and farmers, market management, marketing, communications, community development and/or financials/booking. 

  • Youth Programs Fellowship: Fellows will assist with running and development of the program and must enjoy working with kids. 

  • Kitchen Operations and Events Fellowship: ANC’s Incubator and Accelerator Kitchen program utilizes commercial shared-use kitchens to help scale operations for food businesses. Fellows will assist with the running and development of this program.  

Public Policy & International Affairs (PPIA) 2026 Fellowship 
Applications are now open for the 2026 PPIA Junior Summer Institute (JSI) Fellowship, a program that prepares undergraduate juniors for graduate study and leadership in public policy, public administration and international affairs. Fellows receive academic training, professional development, and join a lifelong network of peers and public service leaders. Apply by Nov. 1 via PPIA Website.

Teach For America Ignite
Open to all college students. This part-time, paid virtual tutoring opportunity allows you to support K–12 students during the school day while building key career skills. Apply by Nov. 19. Apply via Teach For America Website.

Roosevelt Network Undergraduate Fellowships
The Roosevelt Network’s undergraduate fellowships develop and support students to become the next generation of leaders in the progressive policy ecosystem. Applications for the 2026–27 academic year close Jan. 12. Explore opportunities via Roosevelt Institute website

Nov. 5 at 4:30 p.m. in S329 Case Hall. Join the JMC Field Experience Coordinator Lauren Michalak to learn about resources and strategies for finding an internship — whether for credit or just to gain experience. The session will end with a discussion on what satisfies the JMC Field Experience requirement. Learn more via JMC

Fireside Chat with Former Ukrainian Ambassador Bridget Brink
Nov. 11, 5:30 p.m. in Club Spartan (338 Case Hall). Bridget Brink, the former Ambassador of Ukraine whose career spans nearly three decades of service under both Republican and Democratic administrations, will share the personal and professional lessons learned from a life devoted to international service, as well as insights into Ukraine’s ongoing fight for sovereignty and democracy. Learn more via JMC

Internship Spotlight: Krisha Patel

Krisha is a sophomore double-majoring in International Relations and Comparative Cultures and Politics. She also has a minor in business.

“I am currently interning with Crane Consulting, a democratic campaign consulting team. We have clients who are running at the local, state and federal levels, such as mayors, state representatives and congressional candidates. We handle their campaign finances and do other support tasks such as donor research, social media graphics, staffing individual candidates and helping out at fundraising events. Above is a picture of me with Donovan McKinney, who is running for congressional office out of Michigan’s 13th district.”
