Abigail Dzikowicz is a junior majoring in PTCD and Minoring in Spanish.

Abigail Dzikowicz (pictured on the right)

“This summer, I got the opportunity to intern with Treetops Collective, a women's refugee non-profit in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As an intern, I primarily focused on communications and resource navigation. I spent much of my time working on creating an accessible resource database for refugees and immigrants living in the Grand Rapids area. I conducted independent research on website accessibility and refugee women's experience in drivers' education for a documentary focusing on the experiences of women in Treetops' drivers' education program. Aside from research, I transcribed and summarized the initial interviews that took place for the documentary. Finally, I worked on smaller communications projects like media statements and did minor Canva work.“

Learn more about JMC’s field experience requirement on the JMC website. Students interested in planning their internship can connect with JMC Field Experience Coordinator Lauren Michalak (schedule an appointment with her via student.msu.edu).
