“My name is Lyra Opalikhin, and I am a senior studying International Relations and Comparative Cultures and Politics here at JMC! During the last four years, I've enjoyed taking the knowledge and research from JMC and applying it to the real world, which I am actively doing now as a legislative intern for State Representative Dylan Wegela. I am also the Treasurer of the Michigan Progressive Caucus, which has had me active during election season as I try to mobilize progressive movements across the state! At MSU, I am a Co-President of TransAction, a group dedicated to uplifting and supporting transgender, non-binary and other students under the trans umbrella! Our next big event is the Winter Gayla on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Kellogg Big Ten 10 Room. This is a gala with food, dance and activities uniting the MSU community in celebration of LGBTQIA2S+  identity and joy. Feel free to come and be in community!”
