JMC Research Showcase

JMC’s 2026 Research Showcase will be held on April 24 in Case Hall. Students are invited to present their scholarship with faculty, staff, peers and external audiences. Learn more about the event and submit your application by March 13.
JMC Career Exposure Program

Interested in seeing where your JMC degree can take you? Curious about what a career in the Detroit area might look like? Join JMC's Career Services and Field Experience Offices for the Madison Career Exposure Program in Detroit (May 4-6, 2026). Participants will:
meet with over a dozen alumni and employers,
engage with a "Careers in Law" panel featuring Madisonians in the legal field,
and attend an alumni reception for networking opportunities.
The program fee (approx. $450) will cover lodging, transportation and some group activities. All student levels (from first year to those who graduate in May) welcome. Apply via Qualtrics by March 24.

PASE Major Info Session
March 10, 4 p.m. in the JMC Library (332 Case Hall). Learn about JMC’s newest major, Public Affairs for Secondary Education, as a pathway to becoming a social studies teacher. JMC academic advisor Emelia Hammond and College of Education Teacher Preparation advisor Abby Johnson will outline requirements and opportunities for PASE and the teacher preparation pathway. Session is geared toward first- and second-year students. Learn more via JMC (share your email via Qualtrics to receive a reminder the day of the event).
War in the Middle East in Context: The United States, Iran and Regional Conflict
March 10, 5 p.m. via Zoom. The recent coordinated U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran marked the beginning of a rapidly expanding regional war, triggering widespread casualties across Iran and neighboring countries. This online teach-in session gathers experts on Iran and Middle East politics to examine the origins, dynamics and stakes, exploring how this conflict has reshaped regional security, strained global energy markets and intensified concerns about wider international escalation. JMC Skills Seminar: Resume and Cover Letter Development
March 11, 4:30 p.m. in Room 329 South Case Hall. Need a refresher (or starting point) on drafting a resume or cover letter to help get you that opportunity you’ve got your eye on? Gather best practices and lightly revise your own professional documents. RSVP via Handshake.
Students can earn credit toward JMC's Career Readiness Badge by participating in this program.
Spring Serling Institute Reception for Jewish Studies Minors and Prospective Minors
March 12, 5 p.m., Wells Hall B-342. Get to know faculty and learn about the Jewish Studies Program, courses that count toward the Jewish Studies minor and available scholarships. Students can receive more than $20,000 in scholarships, including $10,000 in scholarships for education abroad programs. Pizza will be provided at the event. March 13, 11 a.m. in Wilson Hall, Essex Room (lower level of Wilson Hall). Keynote speaker will be Oakland County Circuit Court Judge and JMC alumnus The Honorable Kwamé L. Rowe. All welcome to attend.
Be Gay Do Crimes: Art, Deviance, and Activism
March 16, 5 p.m. in Club Spartan. This talk examines queer art and activism as forms of political resistance shaped by criminalization and exclusion. Learn more via JMC.

ASMSU Student Rights Advocates
ASMSU Student Rights Advocates provide free advice for any case within the University Judicial System, where a licensed lawyer is not allowed. Student Rights Advocates are trained to interview, prepare, and act as counsel for students during University hearings for violations of ordinances and regulations. Learn more via ASMSU.

Students with questions about internships and education abroad programs can meet with Field Experience Coordinator Lauren Michalak for drop-in advising on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. in 329 South Case Hall.
JMC Community Counselor: Drop-In Counseling

Writing Center at JMC
Need help working through an assignment, essay or presentation? The Writing Center at JMC in 341 Case Hall will be open Monday-Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. Schedule an appointment or drop in.
Office Hours with Assoc. Dean Linda Racioppi
Associate Dean Linda Racioppi holds weekly office hours on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in S359 Case Hall. Stop in to discuss your academic journey with college leadership. These drop-in office hours are open to all Madison students.

“My name is Thea Walerski, and I will be graduating from JMC this upcoming spring! I am majoring in Political Theory & Constitutional Democracy with Secondary Education (Social Studies) through the College of Education. Currently, I am a student teacher at Holt High school. For most of my time at JMC I was a writing consultant through our Writing Center.
