MLK Commemorative March
Jan. 20, 9 a.m., IM East (804 East Shaw Lane). Due to inclement weather, this year’s march will be held indoors with a reception held afterwards at the Multicultural Center. The event is collaboratively hosted by the MSU Divine Nine National Pan-Hellenic Council and the MLK Student Committee within the MLK Commemorative Celebration Committee. Learn more via MSU IDI

JMC Human Rights Data Science Lab Info Session
Jan. 20, 7 p.m., via Zoom. The JMC Human Rights Data Science Lab is recruiting students for the spring semester. The lab provides opportunities for students to engage in policy-relevant research associated with the investigation of human rights violations and the development of specific career-related skills associated with database construction/management, data visualization, remote sensing and open-source research. Students are invited to attend this Zoom recruitment meeting (password: JMC 2020).

Careers in Foreign Service
Jan. 21, 5 p.m., JMC Library (332 Case Hall). Join MSU Career Services for an event with regional Diplomat in Residence, Ken Roy, who will offer an array of information on State Department internship, fellowship and career opportunities. Roy is a U.S. State Department Diplomat in Residence at the Ford School, where he serves the North Central Region. Register to attend via Handshake
Malcolm X Muslim Studies Community Forum
Jan. 21, 7 to 8:30 p.m., Erickson Hall KIVA. The 4th Annual Malcolm X Muslim Studies Community Forum will feature Ilyasah Shabazz, author, activist and daughter of Malcolm X. This hybrid event will include a lecture and book signing. Attend in person or register to attend the livestream via Eventbrite.
Creating a Federal Resume
Jan. 22, 12 to 12:45 p.m., via Zoom. Learn the ins and outs of preparing a resume for an opportunity with the federal government. Attending this session will help students understand differences in a federal versus traditional industry resumes, implement strategies for tailoring a resume to align with federal job descriptions and more. JMC Skills Seminar: Resume and Cover Letter Development
Jan. 22, 6 p.m., JMC Library (332 Case Hall). Need a refresher (or starting point) on drafting a resume or cover letter to help get you that opportunity you’ve got your eye on? This interactive workshop will offer you the opportunity to gather best practices and lightly revise your own professional documents (so feel free to bring them along printed out or on your computer/tablet). Attendees can also the time to begin working on documents from scratch. Register to attend via Handshake

The Jews of Poland Education Abroad Info Session

Spartan Prelaw Day
Jan. 24, 12:30 to 4 p.m., MSU College of Law (648 Shaw Lane). Spend the afternoon mapping your route to a successful career in law: learn about legal career opportunities, engage with MSU Law faculty and staff, take a tour of the law school, attend a mock class, and hear from current MSU Law students. JMC Community Counselor: Drop-In Counseling
CAPS Connect will be back in Case Hall every Monday (1:30 to 3:30 p.m.) this semester! CAPS Connect provides a place to talk about what's on your mind during a brief, free, confidential conversation with a CAPS counselor. Spring 2025 Research Opportunities
Spring MART: Dilemmas in American Health Care
The Madison Academic Research Tutorial (MART) was created to provide a student-centered and in-depth research experience. MART is a faculty-led small tutorial (two to three students) that explores a topic of interest. Students register for MC 410 for 1-2 credits with weekly meetings to be determined by faculty and student availability.

MC 412 Short Course: Investigating Crime, Espionage, Terrorism, and War Crimes in National and International Contexts
JMC will offer a unique two-week course this semester titled “How to Establish the Truth - Investigating Crime, Espionage, Terrorism, and War Crimes in National and International Contexts.” This one-credit course is designed to provide a better understanding about how investigations are conducted, ethical dilemmas during investigations and unique challenges that exist for different types of investigations. The course will meet from Feb. 10 to 20, Monday-Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. (Note: the classes on Thursday, Feb. 13 and Thursday, Feb. 20 will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m.).
