Info Session: Global Development in South Asia Summer Study Abroad
Feb. 3, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., via Zoom (passcode: Good2go). Learn more about the South Asia Summer Study Abroad Program, which will travel to Mumbai, India, and Kandy, Sri Lanka, in May-June 2025. Feb. 3, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., in Room 331 Case Hall. Learn more about the Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, & Sexual Politics in Amsterdam Study Abroad Program. Other Korematsus: Women & Resistance to WWII Japanese American Incarceration
Feb. 6, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., in Room 343 MSU College of Law. Many people know about Fred Korematsu, who is recognized as a national civil rights hero for his resistance to World War II forced removal and Japanese American incarceration. But how did women resist their removal? Join APA Studies & The APA Law Student Association for a timely discussion of the benefits and limits of different means of resistance. Red Tape, Not Red Carpet: Contemporary Refugees and Bureaucracy in the United States
Feb. 6, 6 to 8 p.m., Library of Michigan 702 W. Kalamazoo St., Lansing. This panel discussion will link Jewish immigration during the 20th century with the current experiences of immigrants to the United States. Learn more via MSU CAL

Federal Law Enforcement Careers Session

On the Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh
Feb. 11, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., in MSU International Center, Room 303 (Zoom option available). This presentation by Dr. Saleh Ahmed, assistant professor of sociology, will highlight the root causes and human consequences of this humanitarian crisis in South and Southeast Asia. Learn more via JMC Events
JMC Trivia Night
Feb. 19, 6 p.m. in Club Spartan (338 Case Hall). JMC is excited to present a college-wide trivia night in Club Spartan in partnership with JMC Student Senate. Teams of four (which can include students, faculty and staff) are invited to sign up and compete. The winning team will earn college swag and bragging rights. Teams of four can sign up in person in the Senate Office (between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.), beginning Feb. 5. Space is limited to the first 12 teams to register. MSUMUN
MSU Model United Nations (MSUMUN) is seeking volunteers for its February and March conferences. Students can volunteer in various roles: photography, committee support (in room and out), technology support and assisting the executive team with various logistics. Volunteers receive catering and snacks, a free t-shirt and the opportunity to work with amazing staff. Learn more via MSUMUN
Education Abroad & Field Experience Scholarships
Applications for the JMC Education Abroad and Field Experience Scholarships are now open. Students who are participating in an education abroad program for Summer or Fall 2025 or are planning to do their field experience (internship for credit via MC 400/401) in Summer 2025 are eligible to apply.
The application deadline is Feb. 28 for both applications. You do not need to be accepted into an education abroad program or internship at the time of your application, but you need to list the programs/internships you've applied to. Recipients are also expected to complete a Letter of Acknowledgement to the scholarship donor.

Opportunities

Register for UURAF
UURAF (pronounced: you-raff) provides MSU undergraduate students with an opportunity to showcase their scholarship and creative activity. Participants will gain experience in presenting their research, answer questions about their work from audience members and guests, and receive constructive feedback from judges. Registration for the 2025 event is now open. Learn more via UURAF and follow the step-by-step registration guide.
2025 CIEE UNHCR Student Challenge and Call for Volunteers
Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) is collaborating with the UN Refugee Agency to call on undergraduate student teams from across the globe to present their ideas to support increasing access to higher education and livelihood for displaced youth around the world. Student teams could earn a trip to Singapore in June 2025 to compete for finals and have their ideas shared with UNHCR. Register by Feb. 7. Register and apply more via UNHCR Flyer

2025 Homecoming Court Application
Attention: JMC Juniors
Being selected to represent MSU on the Homecoming Court is considered one of the highest honors for students in their final year. MSU Alumni is seeking students who best represent the diversity and richness of the Spartan experience and who will serve as exceptional role models and Spartan ambassadors. Study Abroad in Brussels, Belgium
The International Relations in Brussels program runs July 1-31 in Brussels, Belgium. This program provides students a chance to learn about European Politics and Institutions and includes site visits to the EU Parliament, NATO Headquarters, the International Criminal Court and other prominent institutions. Summer Study Abroad Program: Jews of Poland, 1917-1945
With Krakow as your classroom, study the experiences of Jewish communities under the Polish Republic and during the Holocaust. The Jews of Poland, 1917, 1945 program will run June-July 2025, led by JMC Profs. Amy Simon and Sherman Garnett.
MSU Division of Student Affairs Scholarships

JMC Career Peers Office Hours
JMC’s Career Peers, Taylor Toth (PTCD, SRP '26) and Justina Giglio (SRP '25) hold weekly office hours in Case Hall. Schedule a meeting with them through Handshake or email jm.career@msu.edu with questions on resumes, cover letters, internships, interviews and law/grad school applications. Spring Semester office hours are Mondays and Wednesdays, 2 to 4 p.m., and Thursdays from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
JMC Express Academic Advising
Need to meet with an academic advisor? JMC’s Advising Center in 328 South Case Hall is open daily for express drop-in advising:
Monday-Thursday: 12:30 to 4 p.m.
Friday: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
