Feb. 13 Remembrance Events
On Feb. 13, MSU will commemorate the two-year mark of the violence the campus community experienced, honoring those lost, injured and all impacted by the tragedy. Most classes will not be held on Feb. 13, though the university will remain open to support students and our community. Classes will resume Feb. 14, but assignments and exams will not be due on this date. The university will remain open those days, including dining halls, mental health support services, recreational sports facilities and CATA transportation. Americans and the Holocaust: Rethinking the History of Antisemitism in Michigan
Feb. 10, 6 to 8 p.m., Library of Michigan 702 W. Kalamazoo St., Lansing. This panel will discuss the history of antisemitism in Michigan during the 20th century. Panelists: Catherine Cangany, Karla Goldman, John Jackson, Jr., Andrew Lapin and Victoria Saker Woeste.
Federal Law Enforcement Careers Session
Feb. 10, 6 p.m. in Room S107 Kedzie Hall. Retired Senior Special Agent Tom Ackerman will share his expertise and insight on the federal government application and hiring process. RSVP by emailing Tim Homberg (hombergt@msu.edu).
On the Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh
Feb. 11, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., in MSU International Center, Room 303 (Zoom option available). This presentation by Dr. Saleh Ahmed, assistant professor of sociology, will highlight the root causes and human consequences of this humanitarian crisis in South and Southeast Asia. Learn more via JMC Events

We Got Somethin' To Say
Feb. 12, 6 p.m. in Club Spartan. JMC's fifth dialogue EMBRACE dialogue is in celebration of Black History Month and a collaboration with the W.E.B. Dubois Society. This dialogue specifically aims to explore the role of traditional African music and contemporary African-American music — hip hop, R&B, reggae and more — in protest movements and social change. Feb. 18, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., in the JMC Library (332 Case Hall). Learn how to search and apply for internship opportunities with JMC’s Field Experience Office. The discussion will also include tips on making the most of internships, professional behavior norms, how to use internships to satisfy the field experience requirement and more. Feb. 19, 6 p.m. in Club Spartan (338 Case Hall). JMC is excited to present a college-wide trivia night in Club Spartan in partnership with JMC Student Senate. JMC Black History Month Symposium
Feb. 21, 12 p.m. in Club Spartan. JMC’s third annual Black History Month Symposium will feature keynote speaker Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II. RSVP via Eventbrite.

Major Tea with JMC Student Senate
Feb. 11, 5 p.m. in 339 Case Hall. First-year students are invited to get the real tea on all the majors from student senators. Hot cocoa, tea and snacks provided. Learn more via Instagram
MSUMUN
MSU Model United Nations (MSUMUN) is seeking volunteers for its February and March conferences. Students can volunteer in various roles: photography, committee support (in room and out), technology support and assisting the executive team with various logistics. Volunteers receive catering and snacks, a free t-shirt and the opportunity to work with amazing staff. Learn more via MSUMUN
Education Abroad & Field Experience Scholarships

Applications for the JMC Education Abroad and Field Experience Scholarships are now open. Students who are participating in an education abroad program for Summer or Fall 2025 or are planning to do their field experience (internship for credit via MC 400/401) in Summer 2025 are eligible to apply.
The application deadline is Feb. 28 for both applications. You do not need to be accepted into an education abroad program or internship at the time of your application, but you need to list the programs/internships you've applied to. Recipients are also expected to complete a Letter of Acknowledgement to the scholarship donor.

Opportunities

Register for UURAF
UURAF (pronounced: you-raff) provides MSU undergraduate students with an opportunity to showcase their scholarship and creative activity. Participants will gain experience in presenting their research, answer questions about their work from audience members and guests, and receive constructive feedback from judges. Registration for the 2025 event is now open. Apply by Feb. 12. Learn more via UURAF and follow the step-by-step registration guide.

2025 Homecoming Court Application
Attention: JMC Juniors
Being selected to represent MSU on the Homecoming Court is considered one of the highest honors for students in their final year. MSU Alumni is seeking students who best represent the diversity and richness of the Spartan experience and who will serve as exceptional role models and Spartan ambassadors. Study Abroad in Brussels, Belgium
The International Relations in Brussels program runs July 1-31 in Brussels, Belgium. This program provides students a chance to learn about European Politics and Institutions and includes site visits to the EU Parliament, NATO Headquarters, the International Criminal Court and other prominent institutions. Summer Study Abroad Program: Jews of Poland, 1917-1945
With Krakow as your classroom, study the experiences of Jewish communities under the Polish Republic and during the Holocaust. The Jews of Poland, 1917, 1945 program will run June-July 2025, led by JMC Profs. Amy Simon and Sherman Garnett. Apply by Feb. 15.
MSU Division of Student Affairs Scholarships

GARD Forum Innovation Challenge
Ready to tackle relevant global problems to improve human life and welfare? The Global Alliance for Rapid Diagnostics (GARD) invites participants to submit a 3-minute pitch video on their proposed solution to the challenge prompts. Read to Succeed Volunteer Opportunity
Interested in making an impactful difference? Read to Succeed is seeking volunteers passionate about making a difference by helping teach at-risk youth in your community. Volunteers are paired one-on-one with students in the Lansing area, grades K-5, to help them complete literacy-based activities. Volunteers can look forward to building your skills, connecting with the community, and more! Please note this opportunity does not count towards field experience requirements. CAPS Connect will be back in Case Hall every Monday (1:30 to 3:30 p.m.) this semester! CAPS Connect provides a place to talk about what's on your mind during a brief, free, confidential conversation with a CAPS counselor. JMC Career Peers Office Hours
JMC’s Career Peers, Taylor Toth (PTCD, SRP '26) and Justina Giglio (SRP '25) hold weekly office hours in Case Hall. Schedule a meeting with them through Handshake or email jm.career@msu.edu with questions on resumes, cover letters, internships, interviews and law/grad school applications. Spring Semester office hours are Mondays and Wednesdays, 2 to 4 p.m., and Thursdays from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Need to meet with an academic advisor? JMC’s Advising Center in 328 South Case Hall is open daily for express drop-in advising:
Monday-Thursday: 12:30 to 4 p.m.
Friday: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
