Federal Government Internship + Job Search Strategies

JMC’s Field Experience Office is hosting an information session for students to learn about how to search for and apply to internship opportunities. The discussion will also include tips on making the most of internships, professional behavior norms, how to use internships to satisfy the field experience requirement and more! City of East Lansing: Placemaking Internship
Interested in planning, building and development? The City of East Lansing is seeking interns to fulfill their Placemaking Internship. This opportunity will provide experience in the areas of community engagement opportunities, infrastructure management, event management, assisting with innovative placemaking programing and more. With a salary of $15/hour, hours will vary weekly with approximately 20 hours worked per week starting May 5, 2025, through Aug. 29, 2025. Apply by March 21. City of East Lansing: Marketing and Advertising Internship
The City of East Lansing is seeking interns to fulfill their internship with the focus of promoting East Lansing’s downtown through various marketing and creative placemaking efforts. Interns in this position will work to assist the Downtown Management Board in developing and implementing strategies to market, advertise, and promote the downtown East Lansing area and businesses. Education Abroad & Field Experience Scholarships
Applications for the JMC Education Abroad and Field Experience Scholarships are now open. Students who are participating in an education abroad program for Summer or Fall 2025 or are planning to do their field experience (internship for credit via MC 400/401) in Summer 2025 are eligible to apply.
The application deadline is Feb. 28 for both applications. You do not need to be accepted into an education abroad program or internship at the time of your application, but you need to list the programs/internships you've applied to. Recipients are also expected to complete a Letter of Acknowledgement to the scholarship donor.

Visiting International Professional Program: Cultural Ambassador Assistantship
VIPP is hosting international summer programs again on campus this July. To enhance the learning experience and cultural exposure for students, VIPP is seeking MSU students to take part in the program as Cultural Ambassadors and Class Assistants. Greater Lansing Food Bank: Garden Project Summer Internship Greater Lansing Food Bank (GLFB) is a non-profit organization that provides food assistance to individuals and families in need. GLFB is hosting a 3-month internship experience at a community centered resource center and urban demonstration garden. This opportunity includes a one-time stipend and opportunity to earn college credit in affiliation with an educational institution. The internship will take place between mid-May through mid-August. Work hours are 10-15/week. The location of work is 2401 Marcus St., Lansing MI 48912. Apply by April 1.
