Madison in Washington Program

Applications are now open for the JMC Madison in Washington Congressional Internship Program (May 30-Aug. 1, 2026). Up to two students will intern with Senator Elissa Slotkin’s Office on Capitol Hill, gaining hands-on experience in federal public affairs while earning MC 400 & MC 401 credit. JMC will cover housing costs in Washington, D.C., and the internship is paid. Applicants must complete both the JMC and Senator Slotkin’s Office applications by March 2 at 11:59 p.m. Apply online via Qualtrics and Senator Slatkin’s Office Application.

Office of Senator Slotkin Internship Program
The Office of Senator Elissa Slotkin is currently seeking paid interns for the Summer 2026 class. Opportunities in DC and Michigan (Detroit, Lansing, Flint and Grand Rapids) are available. Ideal candidates possess strong writing skills, work well under deadline and thrive juggling multiple assignments. Apply by March 2.

2026-2027 Undergraduate Research Ambassadors
Ambassadors facilitate workshops, assist at UURAF, and represent the Undergraduate Research Office at events and programs throughout the academic year. Apply by March 8 via Handshake.

Teach For America Internships 
Teach For America offers paid, purpose-driven opportunities for college students and recent grads to lead, serve, and work on some of the real challenges in today’s schools and communities. 

• Teach For America Corps 

  Open to soon-to-be grads. This two-year, full-time teaching and leadership opportunity offers the chance to lead your own classroom in an under-resourced public school. Be able to build impactful relationships with students, parents, and your local community. This position is Full-time and available across 40 regions. Apply by March 9. Apply via Teach For America.

• Teach For America Fall Ignite 

  Open to all college students. This part-time, paid virtual tutoring opportunity allows you to support K–12 students during the school day while building key career skills. Get on-the-job training and access to an experienced educator to support your growth. This position is Part-time and remote. Apply by April 29. Apply via Teach For America.

Allen Neighborhood Center Fellowship Opportunities 
The Allen Neighborhood Center is a place-based, non-profit organization that serves as a hub for neighborhood revitalization and activities that promote the health and well-being of Lansing’s Eastside community. Each position will be 15 hours per week and be paid at $13.73/hr only if the student qualifies for work study. If they don't qualify for work study, they will be paid a $650 stipend. Apply by March 14. 

• Community Farming Fellow: Great for students interested in learning about an all-natural, sustainable and local farm located in the Eastside community. 

• Community Engagement and Advocacy Fellow: This position assists the Outreach Office with whatever they might need as well as running programs and events to bring the community together. 

• Veggie Box Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Fellow: Fellows will assist in the development and promotion of Veggie Box, manage relationships with local farmers and members, as well as support other areas as needed. 

• Food Pantry and Farmers Market Fellowship: Great for those interested in food pantry and farmers, market management, marketing, communications, community development and/or financials/booking. 

• Youth Programs Fellowship: Fellows will assist with running and development of the program and must enjoy working with kids. 

Career Services Network: Unpaid Internship Opportunity Award
Career Services Network is seeking applicants for the Unpaid Internship Opportunity Award. This award encourages students who have demonstrated the capacity to accomplish educational and professional goals to further progress towards their career. Awards of $1,000 per awardee are available. Applicants must be in good academic standing, graduating in August 2026 or later, and have secured an in-person unpaid internship. Apply by March 23 via Microsoft Form.

Habitat for Humanity: Volunteer Program Coordinator 
Habitat for Humanity is currently seeking a Volunteer Program Coordinator to manage and grow its volunteer program by recruiting and scheduling volunteers, coordinating events, building community and partnerships, tracking engagement and supporting outreach efforts. This position is full-time with a salary of $20–$22 per hour, based on experience. Apply via Habitat for Humanity.

Michigan Dept. Of EGLE Internships 
Interested in internships through the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy? Students will gain experience and knowledge of how to protect Michigan’s environment and public health. Students work directly with staff and executives on key environmental issues in a variety of capacities throughout the department. Grad School Resources

Georgetown's Undergraduate Summer Law Institute
Capitol Law @ GU: Georgetown Undergraduate Summer Law Institute is a five-week, eight-credit program designed specifically for undergraduate students interested in law. Students gain first-hand exposure to legal education and the legal profession through immersive experiences in the heart of Washington, D.C. Attend information sessions on Feb. 5 or 10 and apply by March 6.

CLEO Inc. Pre-Law Summer Institute 
Prelaw Summer Institute (PLSI) is a rigorous, residential program designed to familiarize and better prepare students for success in law school. PLSI 2026 will begin with a two-week (May 23 – July 2) virtual introduction to law school, followed by immersive on-campus experience hosted by Penn State Dickenson Law in Pennsylvania. The PLSI 2026 program cost is $2,500 per person with a $200 deposit. Apply by April 1. Learn more and apply via CLEO Inc.

Express Advising: Internships & Education Abroad

Students with questions about internships and education abroad programs can meet with Field Experience Coordinator Lauren Michalak for drop-in advising on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. in 329 South Case Hall.
