JMC scholarships & preparing for fall enrollment
Sharing resources and opportunities of interest to your JMC student
Hello from the James Madison College Advising Team,
We hope your student has settled into the Spring Semester and is off to a strong start. While we're focused on supporting students through the current term, we're also looking ahead to summer and fall. The next few weeks are an important time for students to connect with advisors, explore opportunities and prepare for course enrollment.
Below, you'll find information and resources to help your student navigate the semester ahead.

Academic Advising & Preparing for Fall: Course enrollment for the Summer and Fall semesters will begin in mid-March. Next week, your student will receive an email from the Office of the Registrar with the specific date and time that enrollment will open for them.
To get ready, all JMC students should meet with an academic advisor over the next few weeks (earlier is always better). Instructions on how students can schedule an appointment are available on our website.
JMC Student Scholarships: Applications are now open for JMC’s academic scholarships, which include awards open to all students and others specific to major or year. Students can find more information on the various awards and how to apply on JMC’s website. Applications are due March 13.
Relatedly, if your student is planning to study abroad this summer or in the fall, they can apply for a JMC Education Abroad Scholarship by Feb. 28.
Internships & Education Abroad Advising: Students with questions about completing an internship or studying abroad can now meet with JMC Field Experience Coordinator Lauren Michalak for drop-in advising on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. in 329 South Case Hall. Students looking for summer internships can search JMC’s Field Experience Database and read the college’s internships and job opportunities newsletter (sent weekly on Friday mornings).
Mental Health Support: Free, confidential counseling is available to all MSU students through CAPS. CAPS Connect counselor Victor Léon is available weekly for drop-in counseling in Case Hall on Monday afternoons from 3 to 5 p.m. in S363 Case Hall. Students who would like to see a counselor outside of that window can schedule a time in another MSU location via CAPS. Emergency mental health services are available 24/7 by calling 517-355-8270, (Press 1).
Health Services: The on-campus Olin Health Center offers a wide range of health and wellness services (learn more about their services, eligibility and how to schedule an appointment). Prescriptions can be filled at the MSU Pharmacy or your pharmacy of choice.
Case Hall and Residence Life: MSU REHS handles questions related to living on campus. Their website has helpful information on submitting maintenance requests, on-campus safety and roommate conflict.
