CAPS Connect in Case Hall

Please note: The Case Hall CAPS Connect Monday availability has changed for the last few weeks of the Fall 2025 semester. On Tuesday, Dec. 2 and 9, a representative from CAPS Connect will be available for drop-in counseling from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in S359 Case Hall. Visit MSU CAPS Connect for more information on how you can connect with Counseling & Psychiatric Services.

Dec. 1, 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Honors College Information Session
Dec. 2, 5 p.m.
in Campbell Hall’s Porteous Grand Hall, Room 111. Current MSU students are invited to learn more about joining the Honors College. This presentation is designed to provide specific guidance on parts of the Campus Admissions application for the Honors College. It will cover tips for writing a strong personal statement and how to identify and describe co-curricular activities effectively. Learn more via the Honors College.

JMC Finals Destressor
Dec. 3, 4 to 6 p.m.
in Club Spartan (338 Case Hall). Unwind and relax before finals week! Stop by Club Spartan for food and activities. Zeke the Wonderdog will be in attendance!

Brazil Education Abroad Info Session
Dec. 3, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the JMC Library (332 Case Hall). Learn more about the "Politics, Culture & Society in Brazil" education abroad program. Participants will travel to Salvador, Brazil, in Summer 2026. This info session will provide an overview of the program and an opportunity to connect with past participants. Political Theory Colloquium
Dec. 4, 3 to 5 p.m. in the JMC Library (332 Case Hall). Discuss Todd Hedrick's paper Look on the Bright Side: Hegel and Durkheim versus the Hermeneutics of Suspicion (view on OneDrive | MSU login required). JMC Prof. Guido Parietti and Matthew Peters (PTCD, Senior) will serve as discussants. Todd Hedrick (MSU, Philosophy) works on contemporary social/political philosophy, the philosophy of law, and Frankfurt School critical theory. He also has interests the history of political philosophy, and 19th and 20th century European philosophy (especially Hegel and Nietzsche). Learn more via JMC.

Dr. Younus Mirza Book Talk 
Dec. 5, 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Social Hall at the Islamic Center of East Lansing (920 S. Harrison Rd.). MSU Muslim Studies Program is hosting a book talk with Dr. Younus Mirza, founding director of the Barzinji Institute for Global Virtual Learning at Shenandoah University. Mizra is a scholar of Arabic and Islamic Studies whose work explores the shared stories between the Bible and the Qur’an. Learn more via JMC Events.

Diversity Research Showcase 
Jan. 23, 1:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at Campbell Hall. The ninth annual Diversity Research Showcase is open to all students. This event highlights MSU undergraduate research that advances inclusion across many areas of diversity. Presenters gain experience, networking opportunities, and can earn monetary awards. Student Senate CCP Caucus: Sip & Sing
Dec. 3, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Room 339 Case Hall. Join CCP students and senators for an evening of karaoke and holiday-themed mocktails. All JMC students welcome. Learn more via Instagram.

Share Your Story & Inspire Future Spartans

Over the next year, MSU University Communications & Marketing is looking for Spartans to showcase in their content, branding and recruitment efforts. This might include participation in a photo session, TV production, videos on campus or contributing to user-generated content in social media. Please indicate your interest via Qualtrics.

Express Academic Advising (In Person & Virtual)
JMC’s Academic Advising Team offers in-person express appointments:

  • Monday to Thursday, 1 to 4 p.m. in 328 South Case Hall.

  • Assistant Dean Jeff Judge is also available in the Express Advising Center on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m.

  • On Fridays, virtual express appointments are available from 1 to 4 p.m.

Connect with JMC’s Career Peer  
Do you need help with resumes, cover letters, personal statements or interview preparation? Connect with JMC’s Career Peer! Stop by office hours Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in or schedule an appointment with JMC’s Career Peer on Handshake. JMC Career Peers can also review materials that are sent to jm.career@msu.edu.

Office Hours with Assoc. Dean Linda Racioppi
JMC students are invited to attend Associate Dean Linda Racioppi’s weekly office hours on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in S359 Case Hall. These weekly sessions are an opportunity for you to discuss your academic journey with college leadership. These drop-in office hours are open to all Madison students. Please Note: Dec. 3 will be the final Office Hours date for the Fall 2025 Semester.

Writing Center at JMC
Need help working through an assignment, essay or presentation? The Writing Center at JMC in 341 Case Hall is open Monday-Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. Learn more on JMC’s website.
