Spending Holidays Alone SUCKS
I’ve done it before, and I’m sure I’ll do it again in the not too distant future, but spending holidays alone is very likely my least favorite part of living abroad.
Seeing everyone else on social media posting Thanksgiving photos with their families and showing off their plates makes me miss it. (And I’m not even a fan of Thanksgiving food.)
I’ve spent the end of the year holidays in a number of different countries throughout my life and I’m convinced that the US does it the best - or maybe that’s my bias shining through.
Either way, I’ve started trying to figure out how I want my life to look moving forward and relying on other people to help holidays feel like I think they should is something I’m not going to do anymore.
Want Christmas traditions? I’ll start them myself.
Don’t get invited somewhere for Thanksgiving? I’ll cook it myself.
It doesn’t make being alone any easier, but it does make the holiday more enjoyable.
So this video is about my doing just that… or at least making an effort.
Thanks for sticking with me. I’ll be back soon!
