25 Years Later, My Childhood Dreams Came True
As anyone who plays a sport when they’re young, I had a dream to make it to the big leagues. I spent so much time playing basketball in my childhood driveway, city parks, and the local rec center. With my brothers, my friends, and literally anyone else that would join. I lived and breathed basketball. Embarrassingly, if you looked back at my old Facebook statuses, all I would talk about was basketball.
Throughout high school and college I played, and tried to get better but at some point reality set in that I would never make it past that. So I willingly accepted the fact that I would be a retired player by the time I was 22.
What I didn’t predict, however, was the turn my life would take at 26 when I moved to a tiny country in southeastern Europe. And I never even came close to considering the idea that, possibly, at 32, that tiny city would create a professional basketball team.
Well, here we are, so many unpredictable moments later and my wild childhood dream has become reality:
Thanks for sticking with me. I’ll be back soon.
