More Self Hosting Updates
Hey there. I mentioned in my last entry that I’ve been working to get into the IndieWeb. I’ve taken some steps towards that in my latest site updates. One thing that’s namely out of scope is the return of comments. Doing this was my goal of making the whole process of responding to me and my thoughts a lot easier for people. Some people use Twitter or Mastodon. Other just email me directly. Adding the comments engine back was an aim to make that barrier to response lower.
IndieWeb Updates
I’ve decided to take on a considerable project. The IndieWeb has a ‘ranking’ system to determine how compliant your site is to IndieWeb-aligned standards. It’s measured using this thing called the IndieWeb. I’m working on making a tool that’d allow you to determine how compliant your site is and what are other things you can add if it’s in your interest. This is a personal itch because I have a small idea as to where I stand. I’ll write more about this later.
Go Nuts!
I’m taking a bit of stance here. I’ve done a lot of contracting work over the years and now I want to open it up a bit more (yet again). But this time, it’ll be different. I’ll publish more about this on my site but I want you to know that if going Indie is something you’re the faintest-of-thoughts curious about or if you know someone who is, have them email me. I’ll help them grow into the network. One of my goals this year was to begin pulling out of networks and systems that refuse to be transparent. This is my first step.
What’s yours?
