From the Peach to the Pitbull
I took a quick weekend trip that included a missed morning flight to Atlanta, Georgia. I’m actually still here. I relied on technology too much and it failed me when I got to the gate. What I did learn is that the East Coast is always going to be my home but I need more time to learn about the South. This is probably the most intentional (non-work) time I’ve spent in out here and it’s surreal.
Like surreal to a point where my driver from the airport sounded just like Ed Wuncler III (RIP Charlie Murphy - forever missed). I couldn’t understand his Alabamian accent and I felt relieved and frustrated. Relived that I’m not the one this time with the slightly foreign accent. That I’m not the one having to repeat myself. Granted, my place of origin was pointed out the moment I exclaimed at the low rise city.
Chris, my driver: “You from New York, boy?”
Jacky: “That I am, from Brooklyn, namely.”
Chris: “Right on. Hear it in the way you talk. All y’all sound the same.”
Jacky: “I mean…”
Safe to say, it ended civil and with some cultural exchanges. I don’t really travel as often as I’d like and only have I gotten to this point this year where I feel like I can (despite having a high-maintenance dog). I’m aiming to be in Seattle, Miami, Chicago and North Carolina. It’s largely for me to get to learn the land a bit more before I start considering going off-continent.
About jacky.wtf
A few of y’all reached out to me and noticed that my site is down. I’ve been working on a few things and ended up botching one of my builds. I have a bit of a redesign of the footer here. Taking up all of the space.
