A Modest Request
Cutting to the chase - I need help. As is the case with most folks being laid off right now — funds have run low (if not evaporated) and costs of living aren't necessarily slowing down. I'm hoping that you can provide something — anything to help me extend my ability to remain housed. You can visit my fundraiser on GoFundMe.
For weeks, I was aware of the looming possibility that I'd need to consider fundraising to keep some level of stability over the next few weeks. This stresses me out a lot given that this is one of the harder times of years to raise money. I've helped many people work on campaings, distributed them and raise funds for grassroot campaigns. But doing it for myself - on my own, too - feels so different.
It's reminicst of the feeling when people attempt to reassure you that things can be okay - in that moment, you only can see that moment. And as far as you can see, things are not okay. How can they change? That wall of hesistation is what stops us from asking for help, especially when we need it the most - which is usually sooner than we'd think.
In less sad(ish) news, if the job hunting and/or contract hunt goes well and things stabilize, I'd be eager to continue work on some social Web projects I've been contributing to slowly. I hadn't a lot of time to do so over the last year (due to unionization efforts and life as a whole) so this will be a bit of a labor of love. I'm hoping to let y'all know what's up with that soon.
And if you know anyone looking for a software guy, send them my way (please). To close, here's a photo of my sprouting Thai elephant ear plant as well as a bunch of sage sprouts. These got knocked over by some winds and had to be repotted some days ago.

Until next time.
