👀 no one can find your website
I should say, no one can find your website easily.
That's the difference.
The reasons are many but it is both technical and non-technical.
The technical issues can often be easily fixed (though sometimes there's something really stubborn that refuses to co-operate!).
The non-technical issues are something else and often require a nuanced approach.
Let's say you sell personalised baby gifts.
You're competing against a lot of other sites:
sites selling baby gifts (non personalised)
sites selling personalised gifts (not necessarily baby related)
sites selling gifts
Now your site is going to be hard to find by default. And you should still promote your site as a place to buy personalised baby gifts.
But here's where you get clever.
When someone wants to buy a gift for a baby, there's a good chance it's for a newborn.
So 'newborn baby gifts' becomes a thing. Some folks might know what they want to gift, but are looking for a place to buy it. That's great.
But what about folks who haven't a clue? 'newborn baby gift ideas' or 'baby gift ideas'. Now we're talking. You're addressing a pain point and going after far less competitive keywords.
And it goes without saying, you can separate content out by gender too. I mean, I know it's 2021 but no one's really rushing out to put on a headband on their baby boy!
Now some parents already know the gender and even name their unborn children.
In this case, you've got your gift giving absolutely sorted because you've got everything you need when searching Google. Chances are you're going to the babyshower and want to give a gift then.
And then you'll also probably need one for when baby arrives.
The opportunities are all around us if only we would look.
So this is why I say no one can find your website. It's because you're focusing on the wrong things.
Believe me when I say that you would much rather get less traffic but more sales than to have a website running hot with traffic and low to no sales.
