Is SEO dead now?
What's good?
So if you've been paying attention, it's been quite a week in tech.
AI is absolutely devouring everyone and everything. And consuming our brains and whatever little attention spans TikTok hasn't taken from us.
Now there's a tonne of stuff out there from people way smarter than me and with way more time on their hands (JELLY!). So it won't take you long to find great write ups on what's been happening.
My take on all of this: it's still too early to tell what's going to happen.
Every second of every day, there'sa new AI tool being launched and every second of every day, someone tries to kill off SEO.
But let me tell you this: SEO isn't dead.
It's changing and evolving and adapting.
Yes, there are huge changes coming to the way people find content online. And if anyoen tells you otherwise, they're in denial.
But people still need to use websites, right?
They will still visit your sites by other means (email, social media, word of mouth, direct visits...)
And your site still needs to be setup right and needs to be in top shape.
I don't see this changing anytime soon.
Which is why SEO isn't dead.
So do this today and thank me later:
check your homepage page title - if it says "home" or "homepage" - get that fixed right away. If it says "Untitled Document" - you need an intervention
run a crawl with Screaming Frog, go to the Response Codes tab and go through each option. Fix any errors you find.
and while you're in Screaming Frog, look at the PageTitles tab and look for:
blanks
duplicate titles (there might be a reason for this though)
titles that are way too long
titles that are generic (and could easily be more descriptive, eg. toddler gifts vs personalised gifts for toddlers)
anything that looks odd (typos, weird spaces)
Do this and put yourself in the top 1% who are focusing on their own website and making sure it is absolute fire.
Don't be like the other 99% chasing the newest shiniest AI tool which is really just a lot of 'if else' loops in python.
You know it makes sense.
Peace,
Jaaved
