Everything counts in large amounts
Do you know where this subject line is from?
It’s from a song by Depeche Mode called “Everything counts”.
Great track btw.
It’s also an excellent way to explain the pay off from SEO efforts.
Lots of little things can add up to something greater in the end.
Even if you spend just a few minutes each day, the benefits compound over time.
I used to recommend this for meta descriptions because that’s one thing people hate doing. I don’t recommend this anymore because Google ends up rewriting these most of the time and you should focus your energy elsewhere.
What I do recommend is stuff like image alt text - we’re all guilty of neglecting this but you can get plenty of good traffic from image search by ensuring your images have alt text (the words that describe what the image is about).
Same goes for things like adding internal links - you might rush to get a blog post published but forget to add any internal links.
That’s fine, it happens. Just go back and add links later on. Even if you do this for 1 blog post a day, in a month you’ll have 30 optimised blog posts. That’s 30 more than the month before.
It’s a win in my books!
I know we’re always pressured to have answers straight away and to deliver results yesterday.
Wish it was possible! But we know it isn’t.
SEO is and always has been a long term play, even if you can make changes today that deliver some kind of results sooner.
My advice to get ahead with SEO is to:
show up regularly
be consistent
keep it simple
Do this and tell me you’re not getting anywhere fast.
Sense. It makes.

Jaaved
